Borno: Boko Haram ambush Nigerian Soldiers. Many feared dead

An ambush by Boko Haram terrorists in Meleri, a village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, has resulted in scores of fatalities, a security source told SaharaReporters. Victims of the ambush, which occurred at about 11 am on Wednesday, included soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). Victims of the ambush, which occurred at about 11 am on Wednesday, included soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

According to the source, who is not authorized to speak to journalists, the troops were attacked while undertaking a trip from Konduga town, the local government headquarters, to Kawuri, a few kilometers from Meleri.

"We lost soldiers and four CTJF members. The troops were ambushed by terrorists on their way to Konduga yesterday, leaving many wounded on both sides. As our troops approached the desolate village, the terrorists opened fire on the convoys," said the source.Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau

Appeal Court Sacks Rivers PDP Senator

Appeal Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Senator George Sekibo challenging the judgment of the Rivers State National Election Tribunal which removed him as Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District. The Appellate Court held that the appeal lacked merit as it did not show facts as to why the decision of the lower court should be set aside. The three-man panel of the Appeal Court held that the ousted lawmaker only reproduced his closing remarks at the end of the hearing at the tribunal, but did not challenge the decision reached by the tribunal. Dangote, Niger State sign N166bn MoU on sugar production

DANGOTE Group, yesterday, in Minna, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Niger State Government for the establishment of a fully integrated sugar complex, worth $450 million (about N166 billion), in the state, a boost to government’s backward integration policy towards attaining self-sufficiency in sugar production.
